I think it’s important to make a plan before you start filming or shooting audio because then you can stick to the plan instead of having to make things up. It’s more difficult to be on a location and have to think of what and how you need to shoot something in particular, whereas if you do it beforehand then you can do all the filming without making unnecessary decisions whilst on location. Also it is important because you need to assess the health and safety at the location and how the equipment and people will be kept safe from harm.
If you don’t plan you could end up making things more difficult for yourself because you might have a vague idea of what you need to shoot but you might forget something completely and then leave location without a vital part of the shoot. Also if you don’t plan for the location or weather then you could waste your time because there could be bad weather on your location or the particular location could be closed.
I would have filmed this differently by getting the presenter to stand inside, in front of a window. This is so that we could still see the bad weather outside but wouldn't have got as many distractions from people walking past. Also if the presenter stood inside we would be able to hear him better because the weather would be quieter.
