Assignment 2: Task 3 – Disconnected Brief

(Disconnected – Jazz Morley)

Firstly, I would shoot video footage of Jazz Morley singing the song, from different angles so that I could edit it in the most effective way. Then I would need to get some video of the soldiers in their uniforms. Firstly I would go to a training camp somewhere in England, for video of them before they leave. I would get lots of video of the soldiers saying goodbye because that is what Jazz Morley is singing about ‘saying goodbye’ to her brother. This would fit nicely with the song because Jazz Morley doesn’t sing about the fighting side of things she just sings about how her brother isn’t around. I will make sure I have enough footage of everything they do, so that I can make sure I have enough to edit it alongside the song and in between the video of Jazz Morley singing the song.
After doing my story board I have a clear plan as to how I am going to make the music video. The first shot will be a long shot of Jazz Morley singing the song. The second shot will be a long shot of the soldiers standing on guard and waiting to leave. The third shot will be a close up of Jazz singing the song. The fourth shot will be a mid shot of the soldiers saying goodbye to friend s and family. The fifth shot will be split in two, one half will be of Jazz singing the song and a mid shot and the other half will be the soldiers boarding the plane, the split down the middle will blend the two scenes together. The sixth shot will also be split and blended in the middle, one half will be a long shot of Jazz singing and the other shot will be of the plane flying away and the friends and family waving goodbye. Each shot will flow into each other, so that there is no start and stopping. I will use pans, fade to blacks and dissolves. I think it will work very well because, similar music videos use all these things and they work really well together.
